Together with Onix we were invited to design a pedestrian and bike-bridge over the Fallkill Creek in Poughkeepsie, New York. The Fallkill Creek is a small branch of the river Hudson which connects in situ of Poughkeepsie, 50 km north of New York city. A special place to design a bridge for. In the future a pedestrian route coming from a new park will cross the Fallkill Creek. A pedestrian route coming from the historic railroad that crosses the location needs to be connected with the new park. And a former Dutch dwelling with historic value needs to be connected with both routes. The bridge will be at the crossing of these three roads.
The number of elements we took literally by connecting three stems lying in three different directions. By placing them alternate above and underneath each other they are balanced. A stable triangle shaped basis for a bridge as a meeting, pedestrian, bike and view point. The whole bridge will be constructed out off Accoya.
