The former pavilion structure on this location wasn’t sufficient to the current standards and was also very inefficient. The location does ask for a type of accommodation that utilizes the park like surroundings. The radial typology of the new design, with central the care functions and the individual apartments in the wings, is the answer. The residential wings have their access from the patio and their view over the park.
To scale down the complex the detailing in the design is important. This way the plan seems smaller and pleasant.
With staggering elements in the façade and by using warm colors and materials, brick and wood, we gave everyone their ‘own’ apartment. Individuality was one of the wishes that emerged from the ‘Feel-Good’-sessions.
