The office houses in a national monument, the former local court off Leeuwarden. The building has a rectangular shape. The first two floors have characteristic high ceilings with the original interior details visible. In 1879 it was build as a national office, with the local court on the second floor, by the national architect C.H. Peters in Neo-dutch-Renaissance-style with Neo-Gothic elements.
The building is not only very special in its features; it also marks a period in the (Frisian) architecture history.
In 1951, 1958 and 1985 the building had some interior transformations. These changes were consequents of functional changes: The local court needed more space, the national office needed less and eventually disappeared to make room for the gold-guarantee office and after that it became a shipping-exchange.
In 2005 the building was purchased by the owner Hans Achterbosch. Het executed a preserved restauration. Since the building accommodates office space for diverse creative agency’s, including AchterboschZantman Architects.
